February 19: Faith, Hope, and Love: The Greatest of These

"So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love." – 1 Corinthians 13:13 (ESV)

The Foundation of Faith, Hope, and Love

Faith. Hope. Love.

These three virtues lie at the heart of what it means to walk with Christ. They shape our character, guide our choices, and define how we relate to both God and others.

Faith is our connection to God. It’s how we trust Him, even when life doesn’t make sense. Faith is believing in His promises before we see them come to pass. It is the foundation of our relationship with Him, the first step in our journey. Without it, we wander aimlessly, searching for meaning that only He can provide.

Hope is what keeps us steady. It is the anchor that holds firm when life’s storms rage. But biblical hope is not mere wishful thinking—it is a confident expectation that God’s promises are true. Hope sustains us through trials, reminding us that there is something greater ahead, that God is faithful to finish what He started.

And then there’s love—the greatest of them all.

One day, faith will become sight. We will stand before God, and there will be no more need to believe in what we can now see with our own eyes.

One day, hope will be fulfilled. Every longing will be satisfied, every promise realized.

But love? Love will never fade. Love is eternal because love is the very nature of God. Love sent Jesus to the cross. Love is the force that binds us to Him and to one another. It is the language of heaven, the anthem of eternity.

That’s why love matters so much now.

We are called to live in love—not just in words, but in action. Not just toward those who love us back, but toward those who don’t. Not just when it’s easy, but when it costs us something.

Faith is where we begin.
Hope is how we endure.
But love? Love is the legacy we leave behind.

The Love That Transforms

Love is more than a feeling. It is a choice—a daily decision to give, even when it’s hard, even when it’s undeserved.

Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 13 that love is patient and kind. It doesn’t envy or boast. It doesn’t insist on its own way. It is not irritable or resentful. It doesn’t keep score.

That is the love Jesus calls us to—a love that isn’t just convenient or comfortable, but sacrificial and enduring.

It’s the kind of love that stays when walking away would be easier.
The kind of love that forgives when the world says, “Hold on to your grudge.”
The kind of love that serves when no one is watching.

It’s the kind of love that looks like Jesus.

Think for a moment about someone in your life who is hard to love. Maybe they’ve hurt you. Maybe you’ve written them off.

What would it look like to love them the way Christ loves you?

Because real love isn’t about waiting for someone to deserve it. It’s about giving it freely—just as Jesus gave it to us.

Love transforms us. It changes how we see people, how we treat them, and how we navigate life’s challenges. When we love like Christ, we become living examples of His grace, vessels of His mercy, and reflections of His heart in a world desperate for love.

Love That Never Fails

There is a moment when it sinks in—
You are fully, completely, and unconditionally loved by God.

Not because you earned it.
Not because you’re perfect.
But because love is who He is.

His love isn’t fragile. It doesn’t waver when you fail or shrink when you doubt. His love is unshakable, unstoppable, eternal.

And He calls you to reflect that same love in the world around you.

Love isn’t just a suggestion—it is the defining mark of a follower of Jesus. It is how the world will know we belong to Him.

At the end of our lives, what will people remember?
Will they recall our success, status, or achievements?

Or will they remember the way we loved?

Because love is the only thing that never fails.
Love is never wasted.
Love is the one thing that echoes into eternity.

Let’s make love our legacy. Let’s live with a love so undeniable, so powerful, that it points the world straight to Jesus.
