How Creativity and Technology Bring Bible Stories to Life | FaithLabz Podcast
Sounds impossible, right?
Well, not anymore. Through the incredible power of creativity and technology, we’ve brought that very idea to life in a brand-new animated series called Biblical Conversations. And today, I want to take you behind the scenes of this project, sharing how God has inspired me to combine storytelling and innovation to bring the Bible to life like never before.
This is about more than animation. It’s about helping people connect to God’s Word in a way that feels real, personal, and alive. And I believe with all my heart that creativity, when used to glorify God, can be one of the most powerful tools we have to share His love and truth.
Have you ever read a story in the Bible and thought, What would it be like to hear this person’s side of the story? That’s where the idea for this series came from. When I was reading the Psalms, I couldn’t help but wonder: What would David say if he could explain the heart behind his words?
What was he thinking when he stood before Goliath with just a sling and a prayer? Or when he wrote Psalm 51, pouring out his soul after his greatest failure? These aren’t just stories—they’re glimpses into the faith, struggles, and redemption of people just like us. And that’s what I wanted to capture in this series.
Here’s the thing about creativity: it’s a gift. Not just for fun or personal fulfillment, but as a way to reflect the very nature of God. The first thing we learn about God in the Bible is that He’s a Creator. “In the beginning, God created…” And as people made in His image, we’re designed to create too.
Whether you’re painting,
Writing, building, coding, or animating, your creativity isn’t random. It’s a reflection of God’s character. When I started working on Coffee with David, I kept thinking about how God gives us the ability to imagine things that don’t exist—and then bring them into reality. That’s not just amazing—it’s divine.
For the Coffee with David episode, I wanted to make it feel authentic—like you were sitting across the table from David himself. I dug deep into Scripture to weave together his life story: the quiet moments as a shepherd boy under the stars, the courage it took to face Goliath, and even the heartbreak of his failures.
One of the most powerful moments in the episode is when David talks about Psalm 51. It’s raw, vulnerable, and honest. He doesn’t shy away from his darkest hour, but instead, he points to God’s mercy—a mercy so big that it transforms even our worst failures into opportunities for redemption.
And that’s the beauty of David’s story. It’s not about him being perfect; it’s about God being faithful. It’s about a shepherd boy who became a king, not because of his qualifications, but because of God’s call on his life. And that’s a truth we can all hold onto—God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called.
Storytelling…
Is one of the most powerful ways we can share the Gospel. Jesus Himself taught through parables—simple, relatable stories that revealed profound truths. And in the same way, the stories of the Bible are there to show us who God is and what He can do in our lives.
When we tell these stories in fresh, creative ways, we invite people to see them with new eyes. It’s not just history; it’s alive. It’s relevant. It’s personal. And through technology, we can bridge the gap between ancient truths and modern lives in ways that inspire, uplift, and transform.
Technology often gets a bad reputation for being a distraction, but I believe it’s one of the greatest tools God has given us to spread His Word. From the printing press that made the Bible accessible to millions, to podcasts, videos, and animation today, every generation has found new ways to share the Gospel. And this series is just one example of how we can use creativity and technology to make God’s story come alive.
Before we wrap up…
I want to challenge you. How can you use your creativity to glorify God? Maybe you’re an artist, a musician, or a writer. Maybe you’re great with technology, or you have a passion for connecting with people. Whatever your gift, don’t underestimate it. God gave it to you for a reason.
And if you’re thinking, I’m not creative, let me tell you this: creativity isn’t about talent—it’s about willingness. David wasn’t the strongest, the tallest, or the most experienced, but God saw his heart. And He sees yours too.
Let me leave you with David’s words: “God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called.” If God can take a shepherd boy and make him a king, He can take your gifts—no matter how small they seem—and use them to do incredible things.
Thank you so much…
